Batman The Dark Knight Sketch
Tuesday, July 29, 2008

It is just a playful sketch of Batman using charcoal, nothing fancy about realism. I blew the proportion off because the image was placed far away from me, and the sketch book was not directly in front of me.
So if any jackass wants to laugh that I sucked at drawing, do it now.
Ok, moat of the time I don't really like to post pictures of my works is because:
1] My scanner is too far from here.
2] Selfish not to scan any dirty/dust works( so I don't have to clean the glass)
3] Camera phone is sitting in the living room for good reasons.
4] Hate to adjust the picture.
5] Camera not with me.
6] quality sucks from the phone.

BB-303 Shibai-I Sazabi Model Kit
Monday, July 14, 2008

This is from BB Senshi Sangokuden Fuuun Gouketsu Hen (If I'm not wrong) and the character's name is Shibai-I Sazabi(code 303 on box).
It cost me about SGD$10 something after a 10% discount from my membership. I found the price a rip off after doing some research on the net.
I saw it in a bookstore many months ago, there was a bookshelf column full of these BB model kits from the series. After a quick look before proceeding to the cashier, this model kit caught my eye.
The illustration looked very badass on the package... like it says:"KISS MY ASS."
I had never bought any Zaku model kits(except one capsule toy) or any robot cyclops. I don't (really) watch any Gundam series, so don't bother asking.
I'm just a fanatic of robots and I have done assembling model kits since very young.
Unfortunately, I treat most of them as toys, some of the models' arms broke since I twist them a lot.
Anyway, few days ago, I decided to get this badass and add it to my collection.
I decided to try something new, like using my art paints, technical pens etc. Spent about 2 days to complete everything. I'm not so serious when it comes to model kits, I just want to enjoy the fun of making, putting the parts together and admire the hell out of myself.
Firstly, I apply a coat of acrylic paint (D-R System 3 Titanium White & Crimson) for the white and red to destroy the plastic cheap look of the parts. Screw the white paint, either I sucked or the paint sucked on adhesive issues; I had to redo the helmet twice.
Then I began to apply some black to some parts like the sword and the generator thingy on the body(I did it since I screwed up the lines).
I began to do the near impossible... drawing lines using 0.05 technical marker. Very easy to screw up and it died on me soon enough. Even the 0.1 marker couldn't save a thing. Now the new ones break down frequently.
Are there any markers that can stick onto the plastic? Maybe I should try looking into model kit shops.
The actual process should have ended, but it looked terrible. So I decided to experiment dusty battle look.
Using charcoal dust and a soft cheap watercolour brush, I dabbed some dust and apply onto the assembled pieces. This process gave an universal coating to distort and mask the colours and paint textures. Then I apply more on certain parts to give a variety of tones. Used a fixative and apply dust lightly on some parts again. Then a spray of fixative to complete everything.
I couldn't get the entire model painted as I didn't have any gold marker/paint, so the stickers did the job pretty well.
I loved it, it looked so badass.

Advencing to the next level
Saturday, June 14, 2008
Well, what do you know...the snail mail came in a little while ago.
I am able to advance to my Fine Arts Painting course.
The results are pretty sketchy as these don't contain much information like the maximum total score for everything.
All I can say is I'm pretty impressed and not so impressed because I would like to know the details(as usual for everyone) behind the results.
Well, I guess I'll never know....
Great job to lecturers for a job well done teaching, let's relax now and prepare for the next challenge.

Artwork: Dreamchaser
Tuesday, June 10, 2008
Many days back, I did a gift for my cousin.
There was no sketching, just an idea that flashed through my mind when I was doing my usual surfing on the internet.
Call this one an abstract expressionism or any appropriate name you can tell me, since I'm just starting reading all these "ism" stuff.
All done with palette knives, from start to finish, except tweaking the background with a brush.
The paint used was Daler Rowney System 3 Acrylics and Cryla Heavybody paint(Rowney Emerald).
I found Cryla to be (much) thicker than System 3; it was (much) harder to squeeze the paint out of the tube, apply it was a bit of pain in the ass and somehow it dried very quickly.
I'm not saying that Cryla stinks, since it has a better quality than my usual System 3 series.
Anyway, let's get to the pictures.

Welcome to a new begining of life!
Friday, May 02, 2008
This is it, another school year has passed for good.
Days came and went quickly.
The road has been chosen, I decided to go to the mysterious road of Fine Arts where I will be the pioneer for all to see.
Life will be exciting and uncertain for the artist and those around me, maybe.
I have decided to renovate this blog into an art journal, where I will talk about my daily life as an designer/artist/student in progress.
The reason is simple, I want to tell a story to everyone.
I don't give a damn whether I'll get famous, I just want to share some things.
That's it folks, so watch this space for updates! : P
